More than 200 delegates and officials had arrived in Port Moresby to participate in Food Security Week, which included a number of agriculture and food security meetings and the exhibition.
Kokonas Indastri Koporesen was among other small to medium enterprises, agricultural companies and agricultural industries, commodity bodies and agencies, institutions and farmers, that showcased during the APEC Food Security Week. The exhibition focused on display of food products for trade, new farming innovations, and technologies and information.
Four (4) coconut MSME’s were given the opportunity by KIK and the Department of Agriculture & Livestock in collaboration with the APEC organizing committee to display their coconut products. The MSME’s were privileged to sell many of their products, get feedbacks from customers, as well as inspired through receiving innovative ideas from other participants that attended the exhibition.
In addition, the Kokonas Indastri Koporesen team had the opportunity to explain to local and international APEC delegates, more of the current industry status, food security issues affecting the coconut industry and prevention methods and strategies in which KIK is currently undertaking to safeguard the coconut industry.

The delegates were impressed with the variety of local coconut products available on the market. Majority of local delegates showed their gratitude as acknowledging that they grew up with coconuts moreover, earned their living through income generated from coconut production.
During the week the coconut MSME’s attracted many delegates who purchased coconut products and a few were interested in venturing into Coconut business. Kokonas Indastri Koporesen is endorsing on coconut development through downstream processing and value addition of coconuts into high value coconut products, promotion of MSMEs’, coconut replanting and bio security through pest and disease management.
